I'm reading these comments, and I just have to add that it doesn't seem sad to me. When I saw this piece I instantly thought that this cat was just chillin' with his collection of wind up mice, passing the time away with his best bud, Mouse Jr. I love the stylized look, it reminds me of Paul CÚzanne, Henri Matisse, and even Van Gogh. Great job!
Thank you! I appreciate your taking the time to write out such a thoughtful comment. To be honest, I drew this piece to house my regret (mostly just being a butt to nice people) and the desire to fix all the junk I've messed up in my life while knowing fully that I could never redo the past. But--yuck, I hate writing all that out (it sounds so melodramatic), so thats why I drew it instead. BUT-- that is by no means the only interpretation it's meant to have! I like to hear different views, especially when they contrast with my own! So, again, thanks!
What you did then is what you fix now. You've definitely captured that in this piece. It's hard to deal with frustrations and errors whether it be me or you or the guy reading this, but making the effort to try and make peace with everyone is a worthy cause, even biblical. Because it's the right thing to do.
Thanks, I appreciate your kind words. When I feel down, I always remember a phrase I once heard: "all things will pass". Its a little bit depressing, but it is true, and it applies to bad things also so it sometimes helps to cheer me up.
